Fr. Bob Calderwood, a Canadian, missed being born on Christmas Day by one month.
His
family moved from Quebec to Ontario in his early years and subsequently he
received his primary and secondary education in Ottawa.
He returned to Quebec, attending the University of Bishop's College, Lennoxville where he
completed his undergraduate studies and postgraduate studies in Theology.
A few years after his Ordination to the Priesthood, he and Lorna with their
infant son (two other children were born while living in Western Canada)
moved to Western Canada. He served in several parishes and dioceses throughout the West, and also worked on several committees both at the
National and Provincial levels. In the '70's, he took a two year sabbatical completing a degree in "Administration and Finance" at the
University of Manitoba. He then accepted an appointment as Diocesan Treasurer, and later moving to British
Columbia became Dean of Kootenay during which time he also was appointed as Provincial Treasurer of the
Ecclesiastical Province of British Columbia.
Fr. Bob and Lorna returned to Ottawa in the late '80's, and, retiring in
1998, took up residence on Vancouver Island.
The series of books that Fr. Bob has authoured and is presenting
here cover a wide range of topics from homosexuality and the church to
a 12th century anchoress who presents a challenge to many of our
concepts of theology.
